The 2009 Atlanta Vegan Bake Sale was a tremendous success! We were able to raise a just over $700 for Project CatSnip, and CatSnip was thrilled! The following is a letter we received from CatSnip after they received the donation:
Thank you so much for your generous donation to Project CatSnip. We truly appreciate the effort that you and your volunteers made at your recent vegan bake sale. It was truly an amazing success!
As you know, needy families and individuals in our community are often unable to provide proper veterinary care, and essential spay and neuter for their pets due to a variety of factors including low wages, job loss, injuries, illness, age or divorce. While all of us are susceptible to hard times, it's often the people in the lowest income bracket that are most effected, and they make up the largest number of clients we serve.
With the generous support of people like you, we will be able to help many of these families ad individuals not only meet essential daily needs for their pets, but to work toward a brighter future with spay and neuter so additional mouths to feed will never be an issue. We are truly grateful to you and your volunteers who gave up their time and talent to further our mission of ensuring no cat ever perishes for economic reasons alone.
Your donation is helping make a difference in the lives of so many in our community. What an incredible difference you have made!
Thank you again, and we appreciate your support.
Sincerely,
Nicole Miraglia
Project CatSnip
A huge thank you to Laura, Kevin, Britney, Howell, Idalys, Ashley, Lisa & Steph for all the hard work and tasty baked goods. And an extra special thanks to Criminal Records for letting us set up shop in front of their store. We have a few more photos from the sale you can view here.
What's say we do it again next year, eh?!

Steph Timms designed some really rad flyers for the upcoming Atlanta Vegan Bake Sale. Please feel free to print some out and distribute, or post them on your bloggity-blogs. Here's the blue/red one, a pink/yellow one, and grey scale.
Thanks so much, Steph! Nice work!

More details and a call to bakers
Hi folks! Here are the details of the Atlanta Vegan Bake Sale so far:
The sale will be held on Sunday, June 21st from 12:00 PM- 4:00 PM
Lillian from Criminal Records in Little 5 Points has been kind enough to offer the outside of their store for the bake sale. The address for Criminal Records is:
1154-A Euclid Ave NE
Atlanta GA 30307
If you are unfamiliar with Little 5 Points, please be aware that parking is a bit limited. There is street parking, or you can pay a couple of bucks to park in one of the lots. Please make sure you do not park in Sevananda's parking lot, because they do tow. Or, you could always take MARTA! The following are some helpful directions that we stole right off the Criminal Records website:
Directions via MARTA:
Take an East/West train to the Inman Park/Reynoldstown train station (E3). From the station, exit to the right and head to the bus area on the northside of the station. Get on the #6 bus; for schedules for the #6 bus, go here: http://itsmarta.com/getthere/schedules/6.htm. Ask the driver to drop you off at the intersection of Euclid and Moreland in Little 5 Points (or just ask for Zesto). After you get off the bus, you'll need to cross the street a couple of times, but we're right there, catawampus from the bus stop over by Zesto.
The store is about a 10-minute walk from the station, if you don't want to wait around for the bus. If you'd prefer to walk from the station, exit the station to the right. Go down the stairs and continue walking straight past the bus area toward Hurt St. Take a right on Hurt, walk about a block, then take a right on Euclid Ave. Euclid Ave takes you to the heart of Little 5 Points, and you'll see the new Criminal Records on the right before you get to Moreland intersection.
Driving Directions:
From points north of Atlanta:
* Take I-75/85 SOUTH towards downtown Atlanta. Take Exit 248C ("Freedom Pkwy NE/GA-10 E") and follow that road around the Carter Center.
* At the forks in the road, veer to the right to get to Moreland Avenue (Freedom Parkway deadends on Moreland).
* Turn right onto Moreland Avenue (you'll be heading south).
* Criminal Records is on the right side, across from the post office (you'll pass through one traffic light).
From points south of Atlanta:
* Take I-75/85 NORTH towards downtown Atlanta.
* Take Exit 248C ("Freedom Pkwy NE/GA-10 E") and turn right go around the Carter Center.
* At the forks in the road, veer to the right to get to Moreland Avenue (Freedom Parkway deadends on Moreland).
* Turn right onto Moreland Avenue (you'll be heading south).
* Turn right onto Euclid Avenue.
From downtown Atlanta and other points west:
* Take I-20 EAST (going past Atlanta, towards Athens).
* Take Exit 60B ("US-23 N/Moreland Ave") so that you exit onto Moreland Avenue heading north.
* Continue north on Moreland Avenue for about 1.5 miles to Little 5 Points.
* Turn left onto Euclid Avenue.
From Athens and other points east:
* Take I-20 WEST (towards Atlanta).
* Take Exit 60 ("US-23 N/Moreland Ave") and turn right onto Moreland Avenue so that you're heading north towards Little 5 Points.
* Continue north on Moreland Avenue for about 1.5 miles to Little 5 Points.
* Turn left onto Euclid Avenue.
Helpful Tips:
After going north on Moreland Avenue for about a mile, an over-sized shopping center (with a Target, Barnes & Noble, Petco, and Lowes in it) should appear on your right side, and then after that you should go under a bridge, aaaand then after that you'll be in the heart of Little 5 Points, where Moreland intersects Euclid. If you've come to North Avenue or Ponce De Leon Avenue, you've gone too far and you need to turn around. If you're taking surface streets, it might be useful to know that Moreland Avenue is what the road is called south of Ponce. The same road is called Briarcliff north of Ponce.
And, as you may already know, all proceeds from the Atlanta Vegan Bake Sale will be donated to CatSnip. We do hope you will visit us during the sale and purchase some vegan goodies for a good cause! Also, we still have some openings for bakers. If you would like to participate in the bake sale by baking some goodies to sell, please get in touch with us.
The sale will be held on Sunday, June 21st from 12:00 PM- 4:00 PM

And the donations will go to....
CatSnip! We chose CatSnip to be the recipient of the proceeds from the Atlanta Vegan Bake Sale because on average, about 8 out of every 10 cats that enter Metro Atlanta shelters are euthanized. Sterilization is a non-lethal method of reducing cat overpopulation and the most humane way to prevent the birth of unwanted, homeless cats. CatSnip offers very low cost spay/neuter services using a mobile feline surgical unit, so low cost spay and neuters are easy and affordable for everyone. CatSnip is a project of the Atlanta Animal Alliance, a nonprofit 501(c) 3 charity. The vehicle CatSnip uses costs $150,000 to purchase and $250,000 annually to operate. CatSnip's non-profit, low-cost spay/neuter operation is sustained by private donations.
All sales from the Atlanta Vegan Bake Sale will be given to this very worthy cause. Do you want to participate? Don't forget to contact us!

Details Coming Soon
Hello Everyone! Thank you very much for your interest in the Atlanta Vegan Bake Sale. All of you who have emailed us so far have been added to our list, so we will be sure to email you with information as soon as we have some. If you are interested in helping or providing baked goods, please email us so we can add you to the list.
We are still working on the fine details as far as the location of the sale, but Criminal Records in Little 5 Points has generously offered to let us set up in front of their store for the afternoon. What a great location! Just think of all of the unsuspecting folks who will be subjected to delicious vegan treats that day!
We are also still in the process of making our final decision on which charity the proceeds of the sale will go to. It will be a local animal rescue, that is for certain.
Thanks for reading, and check back with us soon!

Atlanta is officially participating in the 2009 Worldwide Vegan Bake Sale! All are welcome to participate, whether you would like to bake some vegan goodies, or just show up and purchase vegan goodies! 100% of the proceeds will be donated to a local animal rescue charity, which we are still finalizing.
